Council
Cabinet gives the green light to negotiations for a new Broomhill
Library
Submitted by BANG admin
29 March
The
Council Cabinet last week gave the go-ahead for officers to enter into
negotiations with a local property developer for a scheme to
relocate the Broomhill Library to Willis House on Peel St. The
scheme is still at a very early stage and there are a number of hurdles
to overcome, not only to verify that the building is suitable, but also
that the scheme is financially sound. It would involve transferring a
number of assets to the developer in return for the lease of the space
in Willis House. The Broomhill Forum have convened a
library subgroup to look at these options and to consult with all
community stakeholders concerned.
BANG publishes a HOW TO guide
to planning in Broomhill
Submitted by BANG admin 7
February
One
of the most important issues that BANG members deal with is planning
approvals (or lack of!) We keep an eye on planniing applications and
comment on any that we feel should be revised or refused. We also look
out for building work going on without planning approval. To guide
people through the process of commenting on applications or flagging up
potential illegal developments, we have drafted a 'How To' primer on
planning that you can download by clicking on the 'Planning update'
link on the top left of this page. As you will see we're planning quite
a few other 'How To' guides as soon as we can get round to it!
